SANDRA BOOKMAN is an award-winning journalist, television anchor and news reporter, and the host of WABC’s Here and Now.  Born in Beaumont, Texas, Bookman co-anchors WABC-TV Eyewitness News, a position she has held since 1998.  Prior to her work in New York, the talented television personality worked in Atlanta, Georgia (WSB-TV), Raleigh, North Carolina (WRAL-TV) and in her native city of Beaumont, Texas at KIDM Television.

For her excellence in writing, she has won three Emmy Awards covering Olympic Games and the aftermath of the Valuejet Airlines crash in the Everglades. 

As a news reporter, Bookman focuses much attention to important local stories that focus on the accomplishments of Blacks in America.  In addition to her Olympic coverage, which includes the ’92 games in Barcelona, Spain, she has also reported from South Africa during the Apartheid regime and when Nelson Mandela was released from prison.
