National Urban League

HON. MARC MORIAL is the President and CEO of the National Urban League. Over the last 15 years, he has expanded the reach of services by empowering the movement of 90 affiliates around the country and creating a framework to create policies that serve communities of color.

As the former Mayor of New Orleans from 1994 to 2002, leading the New Orleans’ renaissance, as well as being a Louisiana State Senator from 1992 to 1994, Morial is well versed in the game of politics and what it takes to be heard and achieve goals for one of the oldest civil rights organizations in America. Under Morial’s leadership, the NUL has played a major role in shedding a light on the needs of Black America during the COVID-19 pandemic. From partnering with universal brands like the National Basketball Association to advocating for a balanced recovery on Capitol Hill, he is driving change for families who need it the most.

Referring to COVID-19 as “the new civil rights frontier,” Morial is focusing on the Urban League’s blueprint as it relates to the disproportionate impact of the coronavirus on African Americans, as well as the distribution of a national stimulus package that reaches families and businesses most in need.

He also is the author of The Gumbo Coalition, a collection of lessons on the power of unity in our Democracy and a leadership framework for America’s changemakers.
